Stan graduated from the Southern Illinois University School of Business Administration in 1972. After working in business for several years, he attended Washburn University School of Law, where he graduated with honors in 1981. In1985 he completed the Trial Tactics and Techniques Institute sponsored by the Kansas College of Advocacy and Washburn University.
Prior to entering private practice in 1982, Stan served as a research attorney for the Kansas Court of Appeals. In 1999, he and Deanne Watts Hay founded Parker & Hay, LLP.

Stan’s practice concentrates primarily on insurance and professional liability defense litigation in the areas of lender liability, financial institution bonds, professional liability, employment law and UCC negotiable instruments law. He is admitted to practice in the state courts of Kansas and Nebraska; the United States District Courts for the Districts of Kansas, Nebraska and Colorado; and the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Seventh, Eighth and Tenth Circuits.

Stan is a member of the Topeka Bar Association, Kansas Bar Association, Nebraska State Bar Association, American Bar Association, Defense Research Institute and Kansas Association of Defense Counsel. He has served on the Kansas Bar Association Professional Ethics Advisory committee since 1984 and served as an adjunct professor with Washburn University from 1984 to 1988.

Deanne graduated from the University of Kansas School of Journalism in 1973 and from the University of Kansas School of Law in 1977. She was a staff member of the Kansas Law Review and was named to two honor societies: Order of the Coif, a law honorary, and Phi Kappa Phi, an interdisciplinary honorary.

Following an internship with the District Attorney of Shawnee County, Kansas, where she handled criminal trials, she went into private practice in 1977. In 1999, she and Stanley R. Parker founded Parker & Hay, LLP.

Deanne’s practice has primarily focused on the areas of employment discrimination, civil rights and the representation of state and local governments and government officials. She also undertakes financial institution litigation. She is admitted to practice in the state courts of Kansas and Nebraska, as well as the United States District Courts of Kansas, Colorado, Nebraska, the Eastern and Western Districts of Arkansas, and the Western District of Missouri; Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals; and the United States Supreme Court.

Deanne is a member of the Topeka Bar Association, Topeka Women Attorneys Association, Kansas Bar Association, Kansas Women Attorneys Association, Nebraska State Bar Association, and American Bar Association.

After receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice at Washburn University in 1981, Ron attended Washburn University School of Law, graduating with honors in 1986.

Following graduation Ron accepted a position in the Sedgwick County District Attorney's Office as a prosecutor. He went into private law practice in 1987.

Ron joined Parker & Hay, LLP in 2001. His practice focuses primarily on insurance defense litigation and employment law. He is admitted to practice in the state courts of Kansas and the United States District Court for the District of Kansas.

Ron is a member of the Topeka Bar Association, Kansas Bar Association, Kansas Association of Defense Counsel and Defense Research Institute.

Originally from Dodge City, Tim graduated from Washburn University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree including a double major in History and Political Science and a minor in English Literature. While at Washburn, he was inducted into the Honorary History Society and was named an All American Scholar. He received his Juris Doctor degree from Washburn University School of Law in 1993 and was admitted to the Kansas Bar the same year.

After graduation, Tim practiced law in Dodge City, Manhattan and Topeka. In 1993 Tim completed mediation training with CDR Associates in Boulder, Colorado. In 2002, Tim joined Parker & Hay, LLP. He is admitted to practice in the state courts of Kansas and Nebraska, United States District Courts for the Districts of Kansas, Nebraska, the Eastern and Western Districts of Arkansas, the Western District of Missouri and the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals.

His practice includes business, banking and transactional law, insurance and professional liability defense litigation in the areas of lender liability, financial institution bonds, professional liability, UCC negotiable instruments law, employment and civil rights law; construction law; and general insurance defense and litigation.

Tim is a member of the Topeka Bar Association, Kansas Bar Association, American Bar Association, the Kansas Association of Defense Counsel and the Nebraska State Bar Association.

 

Charles Kitt

After earning her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science at the University of South Dakota, Carrie attended the Washburn University School of Law where she graduated in 2006. During her studies at Washburn, she was President of the Washburn Tax Law Society and was a member of the Trial Advocacy Team. Honors included Washburn Law School President’s Scholarship, First Year Top Oral Argument and the Dean’s Circle Honor Role. In addition to her law school activities, Carrie also successfully conducted a research project for the United States Department of Justice, and was published in the Journal of the Kansas Bar Association.

Upon graduation from law school after clerking with Parker & Hay for two years, Carrie joined Parker & Hay, LLP in 2006. Prior to attending law school Carrie was a legislative research and managed care analyst at the South Dakota Department of Commerce and Regulation and a tax investigator and labor adjudicator with the South Dakota Department of Labor.

Carrie’s practice is focused on financial institution litigation, employment law and insurance defense lender liability litigation. She is admitted to practice law in the State Courts of Kansas, Missouri, the United States District Courts for the Districts of Kansas and the Western District of Missouri.

 

Charles Kitt

Charles graduated from Bethany College in 2003 and from Washburn University School of Law in 2006. Upon graduation he was hired as an Assistant District Attorney in Shawnee County, where he had spent his final year in law school as an intern. From 2006 until June of 2009 he prosecuted criminal cases as part of the General Felony Unit. He then joined Parker & Hay, LLP in June of 2009. His primary areas of practice are financial institution litigation, insurance and professional liability defense litigation, and employment law.

Charles is admitted to practice law in the State Courts of Kansas and United States District Court for the District of Kansas. Charles is a member of the Topeka Bar Association, Kansas Bar Association, and the American Bar Association.

 

Jennifer Michaels

Jennifer received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln in 2006. In 2009, Jennifer graduated from Washburn University School of Law with Dean’s Honors. During law school, Jennifer was a member of the Moot Court Council and received the Faculty Brief Award in 2009.

Jennifer joined Parker & Hay, LLP as a law clerk in 2007 and as an associate in 2009. Jennifer is admitted to practice law in State Courts of Kansas and United States District Court for the District of Kansas. Her practice focuses primarily on financial institution litigation, insurance defense, lender liability litigation, employment discrimination, and employment law.

Jennifer is a member of the American Bar Association, the Kansas Bar Association, the Topeka Bar Association and the Women Attorneys of Topeka Association.
